Earth Day Celebration
Moon Township Parks and Recreation and the Moon Township Environmental Advisory Committee have teamed up to bring back our long time community Earth Day celebration at Robin Hill Park. A community favorite, Earth Day has been a fun, well-attended family-friendly event for all ages.
Our Earth Day celebration was the brainchild of longtime resident and Moon Parks volunteer Dr. Beryl (Randy) Johnson, who championed this event since 2001. This year’s event will feature many interactive booths and activities brought to us by environmental organizations from all over the Pittsburgh area.
Coffee and popcorn vendors will be onsite. Giveaways and many more exciting things to be announced as we get closer to the date.
This year’s theme is “Rooting for the home team! Garden with native plants and trees!” It highlights the importance of using native plants and trees in gardening and landscaping. Using native plants in our yards will also support our local wildlife and pollinators. You can find out more about our Community Wildlife Habitat Certification and the Pollinator Pathways projects at The theme features a design contest for all Moon Area elementary school students ages kindergarten through fourth grade. Moon Township Supervisors and the EAC will present the winner with a certificate and award at the Earth Day celebration.
