Trunk or Treat - Avella
Participating vehicles will need to be parked in the designated area no later than 3:45 pm (you can come as early as 3 pm). The parking lot team can help direct you to a spot in the trunk or treat area. All vehicles will receive a number that much be attached to their trunk for judging.
Open up and decorate your trunk or the back of your vehicle. Please refrain from anything overly spooky or gory. Possibilities could include a Halloween theme, sports, comic characters, Biblical, exotic locations, a particular decade- and can be as elaborate or simple as you wish. If lights are needed, please make sure they’re battery-powered, as electricity will not be available on site.
If you wear a costume, please do not wear a mask covering your entire face. For security purposes, we want to make sure that all adults are identifiable. Bring some lawn chairs to sit in and hand out candy to the kids! Compliment costumes! Meet a family! Have fun!
For candy, please only bring store-bought individually wrapped treats. Or consider giving out a non-candy treat (bubbles, other small prizes). Hotdogs, chips, and cider will be for sale during the festivities and proceeds will be going towards St. John’s altar society.
At 5:45 pm, we award trunk prizes. So if you’re angling for fame and fortune (minus the fortune), get ready to decorate! For safety reasons, please plan to stay parked and decorated until 6 pm, breaking down your decorations and leaving after that. If it is to rain this day, everything will be moved inside the church hall.
If you would like to donate candy before the trunk or treat, we will be collecting candy at the church on Sundays from 10 am- 11 am. If you would like to donate your leftover individually wrapped candy after this event it will go to active US troops and there will be a container at the event for your donations.
